At the 2024 Montréal Knob-Session event, Girtz from Erica Synths shared insights about the company’s innovative products, collaborations, and future in sound synthesis that promise to elevate the artistic journey of musicians everywhere.

Resonant FB : Analog DNA with Digital Control

A standout feature of their new products is the resonant FB analog filter bank equipped with ten digital control bands. Girtz explained how this unique combination allows for extraordinary manipulation of sound. Unlike traditional filter banks, this innovative design allows users to actively control each band with remarkable precision. Musicians can transform the filter bank into a single massive filter with various settings such as low pass, band pass, high pass, and notch filters. The ability to save and recall presets instantly adds a layer of convenience for those preparing for live performances, ensuring they can achieve the exact sound they envision.

Perkons voice in a module : digital DNA with analog finish

One of the most thrilling products showcased was the Perkorn’s voice module, which integrates the engine from the iconic Perkons HD-10 drum machine into a Eurorack module. This hybrid architecture combines a digital sound engine with dynamic analog filtering, providing a broad sonic palette. Musicians can create and save unique sounds, changing them on the fly during performances. Gertz highlighted the importance of hands-on control, pushing musicians to explore new territories in their sound designs.

Physical modelling

Anticipation is building around their upcoming products, including the Steam Pipe synthesizer boasting eight-voice polyphony without oscillators. It employs physical modeling algorithms to simulate the sounds of wind and string instruments. This innovative approach promises to breathe new life into music production, offering an experience that immerses artists into the essence of sound generation itself.

HEX Inverter : A Legacy Respected

Erika Synths recently took over the manufacturing of Hex inverter modules, a move that honors the legacy of their creator, Stacy. These modules, once on pause, are now back in production, allowing musicians to continue to utilize these beautifully designed tools in their creative processes. Girtz emphasized the importance of this collaboration as not just a business decision but a tribute to the creativity and excellence of Hex inverter’s’ work.
